(a) The causative agent of amoebiasis is caused by the protozoan parasite, Entamoeba histolytica.

The symptoms of the disease includes blood in stool, fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, etc.

(b) It spreads in the following way - Houseflies can act as mechanical carriers transmitting the parasite from faeces of infected person to food thus causing contamination. Drinking water and food contaminated by the faecal contamination are the main sources of infection.
