Write the causative agent of filariasis in human. Mention its mode of transmission and symptoms of the disease.

Wuchereria (W. bancrofti and W. malayi), the filarial worms, cause filariasis in human. Filariasis or elephantiasis is a slowly developing chronic inflammation of the organs including limbs and genitals.


Mode of transmission:


The pathogens are transmitted to a healthy person through the bite by the female mosquito vectors.


Symptoms of the disease:


a. Fever with chills


b. Skin exfoliation


c. Limb or genital swelling
