Write in what context did Darwin use the terms ‘fitness’, ‘survival’ and ‘selection’ while elaborating on the mechanism of evolution.

The term fitness, according to Darwin, meant reproductive fitness. Hence, those organisms which are better fit in an environment, leave more progeny than others. So their rate of survival is more and would hence get selected by nature. This is called natural selection which is one of the mechanisms of evolution.
