Subject: Request for urgent action to stop the decline of the number of tigers in India

Respected Sir/Madam,

This is to bring your kind notice the recent occurrence of the killing of the tigress Avani, which has a 10-month old cub. The situation demands immediate attention and prompt action against the killing of tigers like Avani, which has led to a steady decline in the number of tigers in the entire country.

We consider a certain breed of a tiger as the national animal of the country. It is saddening to see how despite this title their numbers are steadily declining, thanks to the malpractice of forest land encroachment by land grabbing companies. Unless and until this crude practice of deforestation and animal slaughter is stopped, the day isn’t very far when there will remain only a meagre number of tigers and other such animals left in our country.

The need of the hour is to take strict actions in this regard and act at the earliest. There should be more stringent rules when it comes to deforestation and animal killing. The guilty must be penalised harshly. Only such strict measures can help us stop the decline of number of tigers in the country.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

Ambika Shukla.

A very warm good morning to my teachers and fellow students. Today I, Preeti Kashyap, am here to speak on the topic:

The problem of deteriorating air quality in North India

The daily newspaper is constantly flooded with articles elaborating how unhealthy and toxic the air in the northern part of India has become. The impact is easy for everyone to see – problems in inhalation, visibility, irritability in the eyes and air passage, and consequently more and more serious problems, even leading to shorter life-spans. It is as if we are living and breathing in a whirlpool of smoke and dust. But while the effects are easy to measure, it is the cause that we must try to find out and address.

The constant construction work and the number of new buildings we have managed to raise today has led to the situation more than any other. Besides, the burning of leaves and garbage also lead to a tremendous amount of pollution. Besides, north India is not blessed with the benefits of speedy winds and regular rains to annul the effects of these occurrences. Unless and until we think more deeply about these causes and act against them, we lie in the constant peril of tremendous challenges due to the level of pollution.
