Write a debate in 150 – 200 words either for or against the motion: ‘Mobile Phone is proving to be a curse for students.

Topic: Mobile Phone is proving to be a curse for students.

Writing: Against the motion.

How often have we heard our parents blame anything and everything on our phone-using habits? How often have we seen television news on how mobile phones are the top reason for teenage suicides, crimes and so on? While all of it cannot be denied, it does seem like the more comfortable alternative to hurl blames at instead of understanding what’s actually wrong.

The education system, together with habits and practices involved in the process of receiving and imparting education, has come a long way; the credit goes to technology and science. In such a scenario, it is impossible to deny that the mobile phone has played a role more positive than negative.

Students now have access to limitless libraries of books and information unimaginable till a few years back. The hassles of private tuitions are gradually losing importance after the digital revolution on mobile phones and laptops, which has brought tutors and lessons online. The student is now ready to take courses at a pace suitable for him, in more interactive and easier to learn ways than ever before. Not just this, the number of mobile applications that assist the student in his studies and preparations has seen a boost. Don’t these mean things are working well so far between the student and his smartphone?

The issue of the internet misuse needs to be identified and addressed as a separate issue, and not mixed with the use of phones for educational purposes. Mobile phones have added much more safety, ease and comfort to student life than realized. With proper guidance and mentorship, this supposed bane can surely be identified as a boon.
