Q1 of 24 Page 1

You live in Raghu Nagar, Delhi, a densely populated locality. It is unfortunate that there is no playground for the children of this area.

Children can be seen playing in the streets, along the roads and wherever they find space. This is nothing short of exposing themselves and others to risk. There is a large tract of vacant land near the locality which can be developed into a playground. Write a letter in 120 – 150 words to the editor of a local newspaper to draw the attention of the authorities to

Subject: Highlighting the plight of children in my locality in the absence of a playground.

Respected Sir,

Just a few days back, as I was coming back from work, I saw a group of children surrounding one of their friends, trying to console him. He had been hit by a motorcycle while they were at play on one of the roads in the locality. The accident wasn’t major, but the issue certainly is.

In the absence of a proper playground, the children of my locality, as well as many others in the city, are forced to play with friends on busy roads, dirty backyards and unsafe corners of the locality. They face risks of not just such accidents as mentioned above, but the danger of being exposed to several crimes the city and other parts of the country are getting gripped in. It is of urgent importance then that this issue is addressed at the earliest and actions taken to provide proper facilities for these children. There is currently a large tract of unused land close to the locality itself, which could be transformed into a playground common to children of nearby localities. Only such steps can lead to a solution to this problem.

I hope my voice finds a place in your esteemed news daily and actions be taken by the respective authorities at the earliest.

Thanking you in anticipation,

Yours sincerely,

Roshni Parekh.
