The dominance of one State or social group over others is called Hegemony. Three components of hegemony are- leadership, power, and dominance.

Four examples of U.S. hegemony as a structural power are:

• An American farm is in the top 3 list in all spheres. The U.S shares 15% of world trade.

• Internet is the brainchild of US military research.

• After WWII, World Bank, IMF, WTO were set up in the US through the Bretton Woods system. These institutes control the world economy.

• The US underwrite laws and controls international water and sea trades.

Four features of ASEAN are:

• ASEAN consists of a much smaller economy compared to others but this economy is fast growing.

• It is capable of building a very strong regional organization as it focuses on settling disputes and conflicts in its zone.

• It has focussed on creating FTA – Free Trade Area, to encourage trade and commerce.

• It aims to build a highly integrated, inclusive and cohesive economy.
