Explain any two major differences between the First Five Year Plan and the Second Five Year Plan.

Explain the circumstances that led to the accession of Hyderabad to India in 1948.



Two differences between the 1st Five Year Plan and 2nd Five Year Plan are:

a. 1st Five Year Plan focused on the Agricultural sector. It brought about a green revolution to increase production and improve the quality of yield. While 2nd Five years plan focused on the growth of industries.
b. 1st Five Year Plan focused on resolving refugee problems and food security while and Five Year Plan focused on creating a socialistic pattern of society.

The Princely State of Hyderabad was ruled by Nizam. Under his rule, there was tyranny and people were under Islamic domination.


Consequences which led to the accession of Hyderabad in 1948 with Indian Union are:


• The Nizam wanted an independent state but the people of the state were against his oppressive rule.


• The Nizam mobilized his forces of about 150000 soldiers to crush the popular agitation.


• Nizam's forces were brutal and oppressive towards people. They threatened, murdered, raped and looted the people.


• To resist this widespread unrest, the Indian government launched Operation Polo and invaded Hyderabad. They overthrew the Nizam and Hyderabad finally merged with the Indian union.
