Q24 of 47 Page 1

Red queens and black jacks are removed from a pack of 52 playing cards. A card is drawn at random from the remaining cards, after reshuffling them. Find the probability that the drawn card is

(i) a king (ii) a red color (iii) a face card (iv) a queen

Number of red queens in a pack of 52 cards = 2

Number of black jacks in a pack of 52 cards = 2

Number of cards left after removing the above cards = 52 – 4 = 48

(i) Number of kings in a pack of 52 cards = 4

P (a king) =

(ii) Number of red color cards in a pack of 52 cards (except red queens) = 24

P (a red color card) =

(iii) Number of face cards in a pack of 52 playing cards (except red queens and black jacks) = 8

P (a face card) =

(iv) Number of queens in a pack of 53 playing cards (except red queens) = 2

P (a queen) =
