Find 10th term from end of the A.P. 4, 9, 14, …, 254.

Here, First term = a = 4

Common difference = d = 9 – 4 = 5


Last term = l = 254


To find: 10th term from end.


So, nth term from end is given by:


an = l – (n - 1)d


∴ 10th term from end is:


a10 = 254 – (10 - 1) × 5


= 254 – 45


= 209


Therefore, 10th term from end is 209.
