Construct a tangent to a circle of radius 4 cm from appoint on the concentric circle of radius 6 cm.

Step of construction:


1. Draw a circle of 4 cm radius with center as O. Draw a circle of 6 cm radius taking O as its center. Locate a point P on the outer circle and join OP.

2. Bisect OP. Let M be the mid-point of OP.

3. Taking M as its center and OM as its radius, draw another circle intersecting the smaller circle at A and B and touching the bigger circle at P.

4. Join PA and PB.

PA and PB are the required tangents.


By Measurement,


PA = PB = 4.5 cm
