If B lies between A and C and AC = 10 cm, BC = 5 cm, what is AB2.

Here B lies between A and C, and A, B, C are collinear. AC = 10 cm
         
   AC = AB + BC
   10 = AB + 5 
⇒ AB = 10 - 5 = 5 cm
  AB2 = (5)2 = 25 cm.
