If tan θ = 3/4, then cos2 θ – sin2 θ =

Given,


tan θ = 3/4


In ∆ ABC,


AC2 = AB2 + BC2


AC2 = (3)2 + (4)2


AC2 = 9 + 16 = 25


AC = 5


Therefore,


sin θ = p/h = 3/5 and


cos θ = b/h = 4/5


Now putting these values in the given equation we get,
