Solve the following question.

5(x-1) – 2 (x + 8) = 0


Given equation is,


⇒ 5(x-1)-2(x + 8) = 0


⇒ 5x-5-2x-16 = 0


⇒ 3x-21 = 0


⇒ 3x = 21 (transposing 21 to RHS)


⇒ x = 21/3


⇒ x = 7


⇒ Hence value of x is 7.
