Q1 of 84 Page 114

Find the distance between the following pairs of points.

(6, 0) and (−2, 4)

Formula used:

(6, 0) and (–2, 4)

x1 = 6 and x2 = –2

y1 = 0 and y2 = 4

⇒ D = √ ((–2 – 6)2 + (4 – 0)2)

⇒ D = √ ((–8)2 + (4)2)

⇒ D = √ (64 + 16)

⇒ D = √ 80

⇒ D = √ (5 × 4 × 4)

⇒ D = 4√ 5
