Q1 of 84 Page 114

Find the distance between the following pairs of points.

(0, 17) and (0, −1)

Formula used:

(0, 17) and (0, –1)

x1 = 0 and x2 = 0

y1 = 17 and y2 = –1

⇒ D = √ ((0 – 0)2 + (–1 – 17)2)

⇒ D = √ ((0)2 + (–18)2)

⇒ D = √ (0 + 324)

⇒ D = √ 324

⇒ D = √ (18 × 18)

⇒ D = 18
