In Fig. 9.38, ABCD is a square with AB = 15 cm. Find the area of the square BDFE.

Given, side of square ABCD = 15cm


We know that diagonal of a square = √2 × side


∴ BD = √2 × 15 = 15√2 cm


Side of square BDFE = 15√2 cm


∴ Area of square BDFE = (15√2)2 =15√2 × 15√2 = 450 cm2
