In ΔABC DE || BC and AD : DB = 2 : 3 then find the ratio of the areas of ΔADE and ΔABC.


Let AD and DB be 2k and 3k.


AB = AB + DB = 2k + 3k = 5k




In ΔADE & ΔABC,


DE||BC


⇒ ∠ADE = ∠ABC


⇒ ∠AED = ∠ACB |alternate angles
