Describe how the Northern Plains are agriculturally a very productive part of the country.

Northern Plains lie below the Himalayas in north India.

i. They are flooded by the perennial rivers which originate in the Himalayas.

ii. Ganga river system makes the Northern plains very fertile and suitable of cultivation.

iii. The silt and soil brought down by Ganga and other rivers provide the Northern Plains with a very productive part for agriculture.
