List the hazards in mountain areas, coastal areas and plateau areas of India.

• The most common hazards which occur in mountain areas are landslides and avalanche. Other than these two, they are also prone to earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, dam and Glacial Lake outbursts.

• The coastal areas are more prone to cyclones, storms, tsunami and flood due to their location nearer to sea. These hazards are caused by high tidal waves and ocean currents. Other hazards can be coastal recession i.e. long-term erosion hazards.

• Major disasters in plateau region are landslides and earthquakes. Nowadays their rate of occurance is also increasing. Drought, floods, hailstorms, desertification are some of the other hazards which are vulnerable to this region.
