Q70 of 82 Page 4

Solve the following for x: (CBSE 2015)

⇒ (7x+1)(4x-1) = 29(x2 – 1)

⇒ 28x2 + 4x – 7x – 1 = 29x2 – 29

⇒ 28x2 -3x– 1 = 29x2 – 29

⇒ x2 + 3x – 28 = 0

⇒ x2 + 7x – 4x – 28 = 0

⇒ x( x + 7) – 4 (x + 7) = 0

⇒ (x – 4) ( x + 7) = 0

⇒ x = 4 or -7
