Secularisation refers to the process of decline in the influence of religion. It is seen that the world has gone past religious beliefs and sentiments and is in a state of harmony. Modernisation has changed the people’s attitude towards religion and has helped in achieving a world that has been influenced by a specific religion.

Rituals are aimed at attaining the secular goal of asserting one’s cultural identity. In the modern world, where nuclear families are in practice, the rituals play a vital role in making the members of the family socialise with one another. Rituals are done according to the economic and social status of the members of the family.

Secular goals aim at a wide scale constituting the society or a nation as a whole whereas rituals bring the same class or family close to each other.
