“Encouraging or at least allowing cultural diversity is good policy from both the practical and the principled point of view.” Justify the statement using India’s case as a ‘state-nation’.

Encouraging or at least allowing cultural diversity is good policy from both the practical and the principled point of view.

Various ethnic, religious, linguistic or indigenous identities, called nations can coexist peacefully and cooperatively in single state policy.

1. Multicultural polities can establish enduring democracies. Multiple and complementary identities can be built and efforts should be taken to put an end to the cultural exclusion of diverse groups. Such things help to build unity in diversity.
2. Allowing cultural diversity helps the citizens to find political and institutional space and support democratic politics. It also helps in building mutual trust and cooperation.
3. India is country which has cultural, lingual and regional differences among the different states. However, there is unity in diversity which can be seen from the surveys. There is a feeling of oneness among all the Indians.

4.Political stability and social harmony can be established by adopting responsive policies. Successful strategies to build “state-nation” can and do accommodate diversity constructively by crafting responsive policies of cultural recognition.

Thus the Indian constitution supports the notion of establishing a state-nation.
