The point (1, 2) lies inside the circle x2 + y2 – 2x + 6y + 1 = 0.

Putting the values, in the given equation,


x2 + y2 - 2x + 6y + 1 = 0


12 + 22 - 2 (1) + 6 (2) + 1


1 + 4 – 2 + 12 + 1


= 16 > 0


So the point lies outside the circle.
