Your school has been selected by the Department of Education to organize and host an interschool seminar on ‘‘Reproductive Health – Problems and Practices’’. However, many parents are reluctant to permit their wards to attend it. Their argument is that the topic is ‘‘too embarrassing.’’

Put forth four arguments with appropriate reasons and explanation to justify the topic to be very essential and timely.


Reproductive health has been one of those topics which are still not discussed out in open. Despite being among the most important discussions, it is labelled as an embarrassing one by the society.


Reproductive Health is a very important to be discussed among students due to the following reasons –


a) Lack of knowledge can lead to unwanted pregnancies and increase in population.


b) Knowledge at an early age about STDs like AIDS and Gonorrhoea, which spread via sexual interaction from one person to another, can help in preventing these diseases.


c) It can help them to know about birth control methods, infertility and its treatment, medical termination of pregnancy, etc.


d) It helps them to understand the changes going on their body due to their respective sexualities. It leads to their better physical and mental health.
