Peer pressure plays a negative role in triggering smoking habits in adolescents. As a school captain list any two activities you would like to organize with the help of senior students of your school and any other two activities you would like your school authorities to organize for the students to tackle this problem. Explain how these activities will help in doing so.

Curiosity, need for adventure and excitement, and experimentation, to escape facing problems, stress, pressures to excel in academics or examinations, unstable or unsupportive family structures and peer pressure constitute causes which motivate youngsters towards drug and alcohol use.

We should avoid undue peer pressure – Every child is different from other child, similarly their personalities and choices. Hence a child should not be forced to do something which is against his/her choice or beyond his/her capabilities in terms of studies, sports or other activities.

Activities as senior student:

- poster making, elocution competition, banner making, special programs during assembly, powerpoint presentation competition, etc

- The activities should highlight the ill effects of smoking, harmful effects of smoking and usage of tobacco.

Activities for school authorities:

- Walkathon, round table conference, workshops, seminars, special doctor talks, counselors and psychologists seminars

- School should keep viligant supervision

- school authorities should give value education during classes.
