At what stage is Plasmodium picked up by the female Anopheles? Describe the life cycle of the parasite in this insect.

1. Female Anopheles mosquito picks up gametocytes by biting an infected person with malarial fever. Sexual stages that are gametocytes develop in red blood cells.


2. As gametocytes are introduced into the mosquitofertilization and development takes place in the gut of mosquito to form sporozoites.


3. Mature sporozoites are migrated in the salivary glands of mosquito and are released into the healthy person who is bitten by this mosquito.
