Koel is clever enough to lay eggs in a Crow’s nest. Write the reason for this peculiar behaviour. Name the type of interaction.

• Parasitism in which the parasitic bird (koel) lays its eggs in the nest of its host and lets the host (crow) incubate them.


• During the course of evolution, the eggs of the parasitic bird (koel) have evolved to similar to the host’s egg in size and colour to reduce the chances of the host bird (crow) detecting the foreign eggs and ejecting them from the nest.


• This type of interaction is known as brood parasitism.
