Migration causes a change in population size just like birth and death rates. Many people have to migrate from one area to other because of natural disasters, poverty and in search of better healthcare and educational facilities. And sometimes because of marriage or for better job opportunities. In India people from Bihar or Uttar Pradesh migrate to states like Maharashtra due to better job opportunities available. This cause an increase in the population size, which is the reason why states like Maharashtra is one of the most populated state in the country.

The population has remained high despite the help of technological advancement in reduction of growth rate because a lot of population growth is taking place in developing countries. The developed countries has less growth of population as compared to developing countries. And also, more technological advancement means less death rate and hence, more population growth.
