Q4 of 178 Page 533

Find the value of x for which (x + 2), 2x, (2x + 3) are three consecutive terms of an AP.

Since, the terms are in an AP, therefore

(2x) - (x + 2) = (2x + 3) - (2x)

⇒ x - 2 = 3

⇒ x = 3

∴ x = 3
