Q31 of 46 Page 1

From each end of a solid metal cylinder, metal was scooper out in hemispherical form of same diameter. The height of the cylinder is 10 cm and its base is of radius 4.2 cm. The rest of the cylinder is melted and converted into a cylindrical wire of 1.4 cm thickness. Find the length of the wire. (Use π = 22/7)

For cylinder,

Radius, R = 4.2 cm

Height, H = 10 cm

As 2 hemispheres of same radius were scooped out.

We have,

Volume of remaining solid = volume of cylinder - 2(volume of hemisphere)

Let volume of remaining solid be V

For wire,

Diameter = thickness = 1.4 cm

Let the length(height) of wire be h .

As

Volume of cylindrical wire = volume of solid it was converted to wire = V
