Given:




⇒ (x – 7)(x + 4) = – 30


⇒ x2 – 3x – 28 + 30 = 0


⇒ x2 – 3x + 2 = 0


⇒ x2 – x – 2x + 2 = 0


⇒ x(x – 1) – 2(x – 1) = 0


⇒ (x – 1)(x – 2) = 0


So, x = 1 or x = 2
