Q35 of 39 Page 91

Solve for x: .

Taking L.C.M we get,

Cross Multiplying and solving we get,

8 x2 – 17 x + 2 = 30 x – 15

8 x2 – 47 x – 13 = 0

For solving we will use Quadratic formula,

We know that the roots of equation a x2 + b x + c = 0 is given by,

For our quadratic equation, a = 8, b = – 47 and c = – 13

So the roots of the given equation are given by,
