With the help of an example prove that a democratic government is a more accountable form of government.

A democratic government is responsible to the people for their actions. Whereas a nondemocratic government may or may not respond to the needs of the people, and it all depends upon the wishes of the rulers.

The decisions taken in a democratic nation are directed towards the welfare of the people, whereas in a nondemocratic nation the ruler is the master and he acts the way he likes.

Example: During 1958-1961 China was undergoing the worst famine ever, nearly 3 crore people died in the calamity.

At that time India was a newly independent nation, but a democratic one, the condition of India was also not much better than China. Even then India did not suffer the huge loss due to famine.

The reason being given by the economists was that it was the power of democracy that made the government respond to the famine. The criticism of the opposition, the pressure by the media, the agitation by the pressure groups, compelled the government to respond to food scarcity.

China would also have acted in the way if it had democracy in the nation, and so many people would not have died.

Hence A democratic government is better because it is a more accountable form of government.
