Why do we need democracy? Explain

Democracy could be defined as the form of government where rulers or the representatives are elected by the people of the country through universal adult franchise. We need Democracy because –

• It ensures equality and is free from harms of other forms of government as a dictatorship.

• Democracy allows free and fair elections thus ensuring political rights to the people.

• Democracy ensures that every adult who has the Right to vote must have one vote and each vote must have one value.

• It ensures that the ultimate power lies in the hands of the common man.
