Social movements are movements directed towards a particular goal. It involves long and continuous efforts by the people to reach the goal. Yes, social movements can develop distinct modes of protest such as candle, torchlight processions, street play, use of black cloth,songs, poetry etc. Gandhiji had also incorporated ahimsa, satyagraha and the use of Charkha during the freedom fight.
