There was a close connection between the modernization and secularization. They were considered to be a part of the set of modern ideas. Modernization refers to the improvement in technology, production process, etc. This was the part of development taken by West Europe or North American countries. It assumes that local ties and parochial perspective give way to Universal commitment and Cosmopolitan attitude. It develops a scientific and rational approach. The concept of individualism is encouraged. The work is based on achievement and not on birth. Similarly, in western countries, modernization has paved the way for secularization. Secularisation is a process of decline in the influence of religion in the public sphere.
