What is heterogamety? Explain the mechanism of sex determination inDrosophila.

OR

Explain the process of making heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) into a fully functional mRNA in eukaryotes. Where does this process occur in the cell?

heterogametic are the sex of a species in which the sex chromosomes are not same

For eg male chromosome of human body

Includes X and Y chromosomes

Sex determination in Drosophila is determined by Genic Balance Mechanism.

X: number of X chromosomes

A: number of sets of autosomes

If X/A is 1 or greater , the sex is female

If X/A is 0.5 or less , the sex is male

If X/A is between 1.0 and 0.5 , the sex is intersex

OR

The process occurs in the nucleus eukaryotes

Process of RNA to mRNA
