a) Two types of IUDs are

•Hormonal IUDs

A small amount of progestin (similar to natural hormone) is released into uterine wall

This hormones thickens and maintain the cervical mucus and makes sperm difficult to enter the mucus

•Copper IUDs

A small amount of copper is released in the uterus

It may prevent sperm from being able to go into egg by immobilizing the sperm

b) Advantages to using SAHELI as contraceptive –

•Highly effective and reversible contraceptive

•Less severe menstrual cramps

•Decreased risk of anemia

•Reduce the risk of ovarian cyst

•Do not effect future fertility

•Easy to use
