Multiplying throughout by (x – 3)(x + 5), we get
6[(x + 5) – (x - 3)] = (x – 3)(x + 5)
6(x + 5 – x + 3) = (x 2 + 2x – 15)
6(8) = (x 2 + 2x – 15)
48 = (x 2 + 2x – 15)
x 2 + 2x – 63 = 0
x 2 + 9x – 7x – 63 = 0
x(x + 9) – 7(x + 9) = 0
(x + 9)(x – 7) = 0
x = – 9 or x = 7.
