Q36 of 158 Page 159

In a right-angled triangle ABC, if angle B = 90°, BC = 3 cm and AC = 5 cm, then the length of side AB is

Given: angle B = 90°, BC = 3 cm and AC = 5 cm

Formula Used/Theory:-

Pythagoras theorem:-

Base2 + Height2 = Hypotenuse2

Base2 + Height2 = Hypotenuse2

3cm2 + Height2 = 52

9 + Height2 = 25

Height2 = 25 – 9 = 16

Height = √16 = 4cm

∴ AB = 4cm
