Q20 of 99 Page 264

The perimeter of a rectangle is 34 cm. and area is 60 sq. cm. What is the length of each diagonal?

Perimeter = 2(L + B) = 34cm

Area = LB = 60sqcm

So L + B = 34, squaring on both sides

(L + B)2 = 1156

L2 + B2 + 2LB = 1156

LB = 60

L2 + B2 + 120 = 1156

Or L2 + B2 = 1036

We know that Diagonal2 = L2 + B2

So D2 = 1036

D = 32.18cm
