Explain the implications of the latitudinal extent of India.

Latitudes are horizontal lines parallel to the equator.

i. Latitudinal extent of India is 8°4' to 37°6' North.


ii. Latitude lines play an important role in deciding the duration of day and night.


iii. Tropic of cancer in India is a latitudinal line which divides it into two parts (north and south India).


iv. North India experience the large difference between the duration of the day and night as compared to South India.


v. South India is hotter than North India because of latitudinal extent of south India.
