India accounts for about 2.4 per cent of the total geographical area of the world but supports the second largest population in the world. What are its 3 implications?

Yes, it is true that India has the second largest population despite a small geographical area. The following points can be implied by this:

i. India has a large human resource or human capital which is the biggest wealth for any country if provided adequate education and health facilities.


ii. India has vast natural resources. But due to increasing population, the demand for natural resources is also increasing. Therefore, natural resources are declining, and they take millions of years to reform.


iii. Increasing population will also demand more houses, more work opportunities. To fulfil them, clearing of the forest takes place.
