Why do we often use the term "Indian peninsula"?

Indian Peninsula plays a significant role in its strategic location.

i. Peninsula is a term which is used for a region that is bounded by water bodies from three sides.

ii. Indian Peninsula lies in South India which is bounded by the Bay of Bengal in the east, by the Arabian Sea in the west and by the Indian Ocean in the south.

iii. It has great importance in a trade by sea routes due to its long coastline of 7516 Km.
