Briefly describe India's location on the globe.

i. India lies in the Northern Hemisphere.

ii. Its longitudinal and latitudinal extent is 68°7' to 97°25' East and 8°4' to 37°6' North respectively.

iii. It is a peninsular country which means it is bounded by water bodies from three sides. In the east lies the Bay of Bengal, in the west, Arabian Sea and in the South, Indian Ocean.

iv. Deccan Plateau, Thar Desert, Himalayan Mountains, Central Highlands, Indo-Gangetic floodplain, Western Ghats and the Eastern Ghats are the main physical features of India.
