Why do algae and fungi shift to sexual mode of reproduction just before the onset of adverse conditions ?

Organism such as fungi and algae switch to sexual mode of reproduction during adverse mode of condition because sexual reproduction brings variation into the offsprings which is advance then before and help to adopt to the changed conditions and survive which ensure the continuity of species and thus for continuity of species also sexual reproduction is adopted by these organism in adverse condition.
