1. The tropical sugarcane varity grown in Southern India is Saccharum officinarum which has high sugarcane content and thick stem. While in Northern India Saccharum barberi is grown which don’t have these characterstics.


2. These varities were crossed to get the desirable quality crop which have high sugar content and thick stem and can be grow in Northern area.
