Name and explain the role of inner and middle walls of the human uterus.

The uterus consists of three layers of tissue:


1. Perimetrium – outer layer


2. Myometrium- middle layer


3. Endometrium- inner layer


The inner layer is endometrium- it is highly vascularised which grow into thick blood vessel during menstrual cycle.endomatrium favours the implantation of the foetus. Endomatrium shed if fertilization does not occur.


The middle wall of the uterus is known as Myometrium- it consists of smooth muscles. It brings about contraction while delivery of the baby.
