How is repetitive / satellite DNA separated from bulk genomic DNA for various genetic experiments?

There are regions in a DNA sequence called repetitive DNA because these sequences have a small stretch of DNA which is repeated many times. These repetitive/satellite DNA are separated from bulk genomic DNA in form of different peaks by the process of density gradient centrifugation. The bulk DNA in this process forms a major peak and the other small peaks formed are called satellite DNA.
